I <3 old Disney movies! For example, did you know that Sebastian is a composer? He's not just some crab that's always around when lots of animals are singing. In the first scene he is introduced as a composer, so really it's his job/passion to organize them into song! Also, Ursula is really scarry! And Arial's main dress is really pretty...I want one :-) Well, back to work! <3 |

| Being Human Sucks Sometimes... |
[Oct. 27th, 2008|04:02 pm] |
basic survival requirements: (0) sleep (1) food (2) exercise (3) mental health
what sucks about these things is that they cost money! well, 0 doesn't and 2 only kinda does, but the other do!
over the past week or so I have spent over $150 on food...granted I wont have to cook for the rest of the week. I have also spent $50 on medications...again, one of them lasts 3 months and another one lasts about a year, but still. I spend about $22 a month on medications! that's way too much money! I can't imagine what that would be like if i didn't have great proscription coverage...oh, wait i do...it would be about $276 a month! and that's just for the daily proscriptions! not counting vitamins, pain killers, sleep aids, or the crackers i have to eat with the pills...
ok, i'm going to stop complaining about money now...wow, that's a lot of money...saving over $250 every month! damn. Thank you Mommy and Daddy for giving me wonderful medical coverage!
<3 I still can't believe that good food costs so much though... |

US Airways Sucks! 1. They charge for checked baggage . . . even the first one! 2. They started charging for all drinks . . . I can’t even get a tinny cup of oj any more! Come on! I got ice for free . . . that was good. But, really, it was $2 for a can of coke! It’s costs you something like $ .20 a can if you buy it at Costco . . . I’m sure they get a better deal than Costco! 3. They stopped serving peanuts . . . yeah, yeah, yeah, they stopped serving peanuts quite a while ago . . . switched to other snacky things . . . I was ok with that, I mean, it was quite disappointing, but I could deal with it. I miss my peanuts . . . 4. They stopped serving snacks! See above, except I get nothing! Even Goldfish were better than nothing (and I really don’t like Goldfish!) 5. Their headphones suck . . . they use those silly ones that have two 1/8th inch prongs. It’s just another scam for them to pull more money out of me! Either I have to remember the silly headphones that I bought last time or I have to shell out another 5 bucks or I have to deal with only hearing the in flight movie in one ear . . . and loosing that one ear whenever I knock the arm rest. 6. They have special power plugs . . . but they don’t have the adapters for them.
In conclusion, I was quite board during the fight home . . . |

| I made it home!! |
[Sep. 8th, 2008|01:18 pm] |
Oh man has this been a hard secret to hold onto . . . Daddy called me up about a month and a half ago and asked if I was missing them and feeling homesick — of course I told him I was. Then he asked me if Mommy had told me that Jenny (old friend from high school) was getting married — of course she hadn’t. I was quite surprised . . . not that Jenny and Jarrett were getting married, but that Mommy hadn’t told me! At any rate, after Daddy told me that they were getting married, he asked me if I wanted to come home for it — and of course I did! Daddy bought the tickets and told me not to tell Mommy, it would be a surprise.
For two months! I had to keep it from Mommy for two months!
Aside from the fact that Daddy didn’t have a plan for picking me up from the airport until the afternoon I was scheduled to arrive the surprise went very smoothly : )
We had a little issue a week or so ago . . . originally, we only told a handful of people — Frank (family friend and Mommy’s best friend’s husband), Aunt Annie, Melody (Jenny’s mom) and Mitch/Audrey (another set of family friends). Frank was under strict orders not to tell Judi (Mommy’s best friend) about me coming . . . she posed too many risks . . . At any rate, Frank had forgotten exactly what weekend it was, but when Judi started talking about going to Truckee for the weekend he called Daddy right away. Apparently, Mommy and Judi were planning on going to an arts fair in Truckee the weekend I was going to be here! And Mommy never told Daddy! As it turned out, Frank had to tell Judi . . . but she was really good and Mommy never found out!
Thursday night Daddy told Mommy that he had a meeting at 8pm and that he would see her in the morning (she goes to bed at 9pm cause she gets up really early for work). Apparently, Mommy was confused, but went to bed anyway . . . at 10pm, when daddy and I got home, Oso (the dog) met us at the door and started barking at me! It took him a bit to realize it was me, but once he did, he was quite excited . . . then we heard Mommy stirring (she had hears some female voice) and waited for her to come out. When she walked around the corner between the hall and the front door, she got this big surprised look on her face! It was awesome! I almost can’t believe that she didn’t hear about it . . . but really, it’s easy to keep a secret when you only tell five people.

[Aug. 3rd, 2008|03:37 pm] |
Monday, June 30th was Aunt Sandy's birthday and we had a really great time! (We were still in Texas) I don't really remember what we did during the day, but I know we had fun! Come to think of it, we might have stayed home and vegged...I donno! Gosh! I can hardly believe that I can't remember a month ago!

[Aug. 3rd, 2008|03:34 pm] |
My Aunt Sandy's (expired) husband, Roy, used to love going to Red Lobster. However, since the last time that I visited Dallas the Red Lobster that was around the corner went out of business--and the building was taken over by a mortuary!
Aunt Sandy went in there when planing Roy's funeral, but all she could think about was how she used to eat in there...and how much of a mess Roy made :) |

i know it's old...but I just re-found this email... the best response to me and Griffin ever: Ooo, la, la! Well, it is you, so I should expect that. You two look so happy and cute in the pics on your blogy-thing. And holy cow! Liz, with a "boyfriend"? Has the gravitational constant of the universe changed? Is the strange quark now normal and blase, is the charming quark now dorky and lame? Well, you said "not committed", so up is not down quite yet, it's just a little sideways...and the good side, too, is what it sounds like. If congrats is the right word, consider it said. from Jackie |

I got to work (TechCalling) last night and was told that I'm not allowed to work!
How sad is that?!?!
Ok, so there's more to this story than meets the eye...I'm not allowed to work more than 40 hours a week for the institvte. I'm working 40 at my UROP, so I've been paid time and a half for the TechCalling the past few weeks. Yup, gotta figure something out...
Advice?
- I make $.50 more and hour at the UROP
- If I call I can take all of Thursday completely off the UROP (instead of starting work at 4pm and working extra hours on the weekend. Oh the things I do for Yoga!)
- Calling means I work 9:00AM to 10:30PM three days a week
- Calling keeps me from going home after the UROP or working really late
- I can swim between jobs
- Thank you calling is not as much fun...harder to make conversation
- Calling keeps me busy
HELP! What, oh, what should I do? |

| Texas! |
[Jul. 15th, 2008|04:05 pm] |
I just spent over a week in Dallas, Texas visiting with my family!
My mom flew down about 2 weeks before and went all over Texas visiting family. She spent a week in Houston with her mommy and my cousins. Then she spent a week with her step-mom and step-sister in San Antonio. Of course, Aunt Sandy was with her just about the whole time :)
Hunter's expecting a baby, I think it's due the first week in September. I'm really excited for him (I still don't like her, but my mom says that she's growing up...I guess there's hope. But in the mean-time, she's getting really fat! and not just having-a-baby fat! hehe). As is tradition with my family, the kid's getting a mural on the walls. Nanny started it before Mommy got there (I think) and she didn't want to stand and reach on the wall, so they put it on a big canvas that they will hang up once it's done. :) Apparently Mommy got a lot of work done on it. She said that Hunter came over to help out--and that he did a really good job--and Kendyl came by to help keep her company.
Daddy and I both flew in last Friday (June 28th). Our flights were to arrive within 10 minutes of each other, but I missed mine...long story and I don't really wanna get into it right now--let's just say that (among other things) when I printed my boarding pass I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to get into the Athena Cluster and get it out of the printer! At any rate, I missed my flight and had to catch stand by on a later one. The one that I ended up choosing when I checked my bag was one that went through Chicago, but when I got to the gate the flight attendant told me that it would be better for me (shorter flight/no layover/no delays) if I took one that left about an hour later--it was a direct flight. (It was also better for other people cause they were only going to Chicago.) Because she could have gotten me on that flight she straight up booked me on the other one (yippie! no more stand by!). I made it into Dallas around 530 (I think), but my luggage hadn't made it yet! It was grounded in Chicago because of the storm that delayed the plane there. The airline ended up delivering it to me the next morning...now my nice pink duffel bag is all dirty, but at least I had my clothes? and Daddy didn't have to wait that extra two hours that my luggage took to arrive!
On the way to Aunt Sandy's Daddy took me by old houses...you can go here to see awesome pictures of the house I was born at!
We spent most of the week visiting Mommy and Daddy's old friends...it was a lot of fun! Bobby and Don took us to dinner (twice), Willie took us to breakfast and we went to see him play in his band, LeeRoy and his girl friend cooked us dinner. Ok, we spend the entire week going from one meal to another!
More details in later posts... |

Ok, I get the idea, you want to let people know that you're not around if they send you an e-mail, but the truth of the matter is that I dont want to fucking hear that you're out of the country. I didnt send you an e-mail...I sent my message to a very public mailing list! I dont care if your away from z e-mails! I dont even fucking know you!
ARG!
Anyway, in conclusion...every idiot that I get an auto respond from gets this: moron! next time you create an auto respond you should take your self off of all the fucking mailing lists that you're on! common decency mother fucker! |

A few weeks ago I was doing a little work on AlisonC’s bike in my room. Now this was really stupid for several reasons, the biggest because my room is quite small and second biggest was that I had several piles of class work piled around...oh, maybe I’ll post pictures today :) ...anyway, I was moving between working on the front of the bike and the back of it when I slid my chair over and sat on my foot...only the chair was kinda in between my foot and my butt at the time.
Long story short, I yelled, couldn’t breathe, Amrita ran in and cleaned & bandaged my toe, and then I went out to dinner and a move with Griffin. I was limping the whole time and Griffin and I bet 37 cents that my toe was/WAS NOT broken. It hurt for quite a while, but not too long and eventually I won—no broken toe!

| world's best end to the world's worst shift! |
[Apr. 16th, 2008|12:44 am] |
TechCalling today sucked! i started the shift with about 7 declines from yesterday...yes, I got to call people that said they cannot/will not give this year yesterday. (there were also a few more later in the shift) but, yeah, it was evil...didnt even get to talk to people very much cause they were all "um, i just talked to someone yesterday" arg!
at any rate, it got a lot better. I talked to this one woman who was really nice! she was a little "short" at first--her words, not mine--but we ended up taking for a good 15 mins and i'll be calling her back next week to get the pledge (she wanted to talk it over with her hubby first, and pick the right fund). and then! I called Daddy! <3 It was great :) (I love my daddy!) I hope it put him in a better mood, cause it totally made me feel better :) (and not just cause he gave me money! <3) |

| Negotiations. |
[Feb. 26th, 2008|10:25 am] |
Negotiations.
Griffin and I do not fight. We negotiate.
I want to go somewhere now. He wants to sleep. We go and he sleeps there.
He wants his text book. I want milk and a back rub. He brings me milk!
I want to cuddle. He wants to shower. We cuddle in the shower.
Oh, wait, this sounds like we compromise...I should be a little more clear:
We do not compromise. We negotiate.
It’s the day of Thanksgiving Feed and I’ve slept at Random while Griffin was up all night as Nightwatch (getting paid to make sure the dorm doesn’t burn down during the night). He came to bed at 8:30am and wanted to go to sleep. I wanted to go to 4E and start cooking for the feed (I didn’t do anything the night before). I had no faith that Griffin would come over for the feed when he woke up—ok, I had no faith that he would wake up in time for the feed on his own—so I wanted him to sleep in my room while I cooked and then be there when it was time for Deep-Fried Turkey Goodness.
He wanted to sleep right there, right then.
An hour and a half later we reached our terms: I would not tickle him until the end of IAP We would leave for 4E right away and he would sleep there
Last week I acquired a Textbook for Griffin (long story short, he’s a dumbo who didn’t pay attention to Book Exchange to see that he could save over $50 and then was a lazy bum because he couldn’t be bothered to e-mail the guy that was selling it at the Exchange...at any rate, I took his money, bought the book, and brought it home with me-—that really wasn’t that short, was it?)
About Thursday Griffin calls me asking when he can have his book. I tell him when he brings me a gallon of milk and a back rub.
He wants to take a nap...that boy needs a better sleep schedule!
End Terms: He brings me milk now. We postpone the back rub to the next time we see each other* We eat dinner & cuddle (I’m not even sure how this worked it’s way in) He naps (while I work) and takes his book home when he goes
It's kinda cute if you think about it....we're both so stubborn that everything is a negotiation and neither of us just compromise without a ‘fight’
*For the Record: I did get that back rub the next time we saw each other.

| I got a job! I got a job! |
[Feb. 21st, 2008|02:00 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | actually, I now have 2...
<insert happy dance here >
1st, I get to talk on the phone for 3 hours twice a week. Ok, so it's more like I listen to the thingy call numbers and wait for someone to pick up so that I can ask them for money :-) that's right people! I'm a TechCaller--watch out you alums...if I call you, you damn well better give me money! on your credit card! (apparently it's much, much cheaper than billing for checks...who knew that paper costs so much these days?)
My first day was yesterday. I spent the first half of the shift listening to another girl call people and the second calling people. I got 2 people. No, not 2 pledges--2 people. The first one was sitting down to dinner (or putting the kids to bed, I don’t remember) and the second was a very little girl...I'm pretty sure that she didn’t speak English cause I definitely heard some Asian sounding words in there and she couldn’t understand anything but "Mommy"--at any rate, that call ended in me not even getting to talk to the alum :-(
oh well, tonight I got rejected! I think it was 3 times! (not counting the thousands of answering machines that I got) silly alums who don’t wanna give money...who cares about the institvte--I want to win bonus prizes for getting people to give me money! :-) I work again Monday night, so we'll see how that goes.
The other job that I got (just got this one the other day, so I don't know when I'll start) is helping out at the Science Club for Girls..... There I get to work on "outreach events and special projects"...in other words I get to have fun with Family Science Kits and events at the Cambridge Science Festival. But, the main thing that I will be doing is that I will have to help 'teach' science to kids...and by that I mean, I get to wonder around and help the volunteers help the kids, play with science experiments, and be the disciplinarian! There shall be beatings! (I wish) Apparently the volunteers are too nice, so I get to be the bad guy and make those kids buck up :-) this'll be fun :-)
Sides, who can say no to science experiments for 4th graders?!?!
